Understanding The Purpose Of 12 Georgia Regional Commissions As A Small Business

As a small business in the State of Georgia, it is important to understand exactly why a Regional Commission exist and what is its purpose.

That being said, there are twelve (12) Regional Commissions in the State of Georgia.  They serve Georgia’s city and county governments by functioning as multicounty planning and development agencies.

According to New Georgia's Encyclopedia, "Georgia’s RCs are involved in a broad range of activities related to coordinated and comprehensive planning, land-use development, historic preservation, aging services, revolving loan funds, business retention and development, affordable housing, tourism, workforce development, coordinated transportation, geographic information systems, and disaster-mitigation planning. "

The 12 Georgia Regional Commissions work hand in hand with one another as well.  Information Technology is one of many things they share in common when it comes to the growth and development of the State of Georgia to say the very least.

EMV Chip Card ( Smart Card) Migration On The Move

Years ago (around 1999), when Broadcasting Interest Enterprise, Inc. ("BIE") first studied this Technology, we called these Cards with a Micro Chip in them, 'Smart Cards'. 

Why?  Well, because that was the name given at the time. 

Today, they are called EMV Chip Cards or 'Europay, MasterCard, and Visa' Chip Cards.

Recently, I had the opportunity to utilize one of these cards during two different purchases.

At a particular Computer Store , I plug the chip portion of the EMV Card in a specialized port, then input a PIN Number to pay for an item.

During a 2nd purchase with the same card at a different store, I slid the card in the magnetic card reader, and signed a receipt given by the Merchant.

Perhaps the migration to the new EMV Chips Cards will help protect against ID Theft to a certain degree.

At this point the propagation as to furthering the protection of the Consumer regarding the EMV Chip Card is out.

In my professional opinion, it is a great start and hopefully improved security measures will be built into it over time, we shall see.

Boosting The Economy Through Small Business In Macon, Georgia

You know, perhaps as we get older.  Excuse me.  LOL   As we mature in life, it has been brought to attention that having patience truly is a virtue or behavior showing high moral standards.

Fore, thinking clearly regarding a subject requires a clear path to comprehension or understanding it.

That being said, the consolidation of the City of Macon with the County of Bibb was and is in my professional opinion, a brilliant idea to which all people living in the Middle portion of the State of Georgia could possibly benefit.

On Wednesday Morning, from the hours of 10:00 am until 2:00 pm EST, I had the opportunity to experience what I could only describe as a boost in the Middle Georgia Economy.

Perhaps you may ask, what could that be?   Well, located in the Historical Macon Terminal Station on the fourth floor was the ' 2015 Fall  Business Development Resource Forum '.

This forum was brought forth by the ' Office of Small Business Affairs ' from the Macon-Bibb County Government.  This particular Department is lead by Dr. James Louis Bumpus, Director.

The event was very well thought out.   It had a list of Presenters who discuss a wide range of actions to take in establishing a business or greatly improving your current business.

It did not matter what side of the political spectrum that you reside.  It did not matter what was your race or ethnic background.  It did not matter what was your gender.  However, to conduct business in this Great City and County combined, there were certain requirements and perhaps being a Citizen of the United States of America would be a benefit.

Without going into greater detail, below we list the organizations who were represented:

3. Georgia Department of Administrative Services
4. Central Georgia Technical College
5. Georgia Technology - Enterprise Innovation Institute

Macon, Georgia, as well as, Central Georgia is an ideal location to grow a business or expand one.

An Interview With East Point Georgia Councilman Alexander Gothard of Ward A

Sunday, November 1st 2015, I had the opportunity to interview Mr. Gothard via phone during his very busy schedule.  The length of the phone call was roughly 15 minutes.

This Young Man has accomplished a lot of goals in office during his four years as the City of East Point, Georgia - Councilman of Ward A.  He is a forward thinking individual and businessman with the sense, drive ,as well as, determination to serve his Constituents.

The Difference Between Having A Job And A Career

Recently,   Challenger, Gray and Christmas, Inc job lost report was disheartening.

Despite how terrible it feels to lose a job, my late Father's words often resonate in my mind when such a thing occur.  He would state, " Why worry about losing a job when you can go and create one."

Thus, I personally would attempt to follow suit. Which brings me to distinguishing the difference between a Job and a Career.

Defining the contrast between a Job and a Career in my professional opinion is likely identifying finally what your 'Niche in Life' should actually be...

A job is an occupation, whereas, you are in servitude to earn a living.  Now, please correct me if you think the previous statement is wrong or not properly thought out.

Furthermore, a Career is an occupation, but it is a Life Time Venture that one should enjoy getting up to every morning, including on Mondays. LOL  It very well maybe your calling or something where people call you an Expert or you simply just enjoy doing it while striving to be the very best at what you do in Life.

Short brief and hopefully certainly to the point.      So, what are your thoughts?

What's Going On With CloudFlare?

What is going on with CloudFlare?   About two to three weeks ago the servers appear to all ,but shut down www.maconbibb.us/purchasing - procurement aspects of Macon-Bibb County, Georgia web site and now the IETF is having some issues.  As of Monday 9:01 pm EST, CloudFlare Status is reporting slowness.

I sincerely hope that CloudFlare is able to resolve whatever issues they are experiencing soon.

So, what are your thoughts?

Atlanta Bound: University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff

Starting Thursday, July 23rd and extending through Sunday, July 26th 2015; Faculty, Staff, Alumni and Students of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff ("UAPB") will attend an annual Alumni Conference here in Atlanta, Georgia.

This particular Historically Black College and University is ranked 4th among other HBCUs.  The City of Atlanta, as well as, the metropolitan area possess quite a number of distinguished Alumni who held UAPB as their Alma Mater.

The UAPB Alumni Conference will be hosted by  UAPB-MAAC   or the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff  - Metropolitan Atlanta Alumni Chapter.

In culmination with the Alumni Conference, there will be a UAPB Atlanta College Fair held at the Grand Hyatt Buckhead Hotel located on 3300 Peachtree Rd, Saturday, July 25th 2015 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm EST.

This event will give perspective students and parents the opportunity to experience onsite admission, band and choir auditions while gaining a chance to obtain scholarships to this great Institution of Higher Learning.  The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff offers Undergraduate and Graduate School studies.

Since Friday, July 17th 2015, UAPB has advertise the UAPB Atlanta College Fair on Radio One Network ( WHTA-FM HOT 107.9, WAMJ-FM MAJIC 107.5/97.5, WPZE-FM Praise 102.5 ) and Google Search Engine, as well as, Google Partner Websites within a 100 mile radius of the City of Atlanta.

Seriously, All Jokes Aside, Could There Be Life On Pluto?

Seriously, all jokes aside, could there be life on Pluto? After seeing the most recent images, it very well could be... What do you think?

With a Piano sized Spacecraft photographing the surface of Pluto as it makes a flyby, while transmitting images that take 4 hours before we on Earth are able to view them sent at the speed of light is quite incredible to say the least.

It took just a little over 9 years to reach this Planet, quoted by some or this Dwarf Planet quoted by others.  Perhaps its the last planetary body before one leaves our Solar System, but what lies on the surface is yet to be observed closely.

It looks like NASA , other Space Agencies and Ventures in this World have their work cut out for them to find life on Pluto or other planetary bodies in the next decade to say the very least.

Update:   I'm going to make a prediction and I'm just thinking.  Today ( 7/18/2015), it takes an unmanned spacecraft roughly 9.5 years to reach Pluto and beam back images moving at 186,000 miles per second, taking roughly four (4) hours to arrive on Earth.

Tomorrow (The near or far Future), it will take Man, Woman, Animal or whatever four (4) hours to travel to Pluto.   Whether it be by Spacecraft, Worm Hole or whatever.

With God, all things are possible....     So, what are your thoughts?

Refusing The Negativity

I hope all is well , this I pray. From the perspective of a Man of God, a Christian, a Veteran, a Small Business Owner and finally - last but certainly not least - an American of African descent; I'm sadden by what I see in Baltimore, Maryland.

I'm equally sadden by the mere fact that Police Brutality is more prevalent due to digital cameras, social media and the promotion of hate.

Like you, I'm entitled to feel a certain way , but I have decided to refuse the negativity.

I can only wish you would refuse it too...

I think that we are letting the devil get into us like he has gotten into so many Americans of all Races due to the negativity viewed and heard on Mainstream Media.

I have personally decided to place myself and thoughts in a positive light.

I know things are not quite right in our Country, but still I move forward in a positive way.

Addressing Failing Schools In Atlanta, Georgia To Find A Solution

On April 14th 2015, I had the opportunity to sat in the Collier Heights Community Association Meeting held at Berean Seventh Day Adventist Church located on H. E Holmes Drive or what eventually becomes Georgia State Route 280 in Atlanta, Georgia.

There I heard Georgia State Representative Sheila Jones present the State Bills that passed in the State of Georgia House of Representatives and Senate.

One bill that stood out in the Community to which I live and thrive is SB133 or 2015-2016 Regular Session - SB 133 Opportunity School District; establishment; provide for definitions; supervision of public elementary and secondary schools that are failing

Furthermore, on that very day, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Jerry Baxter gave out some serious sentences to convicted Educators of the Atlanta Public Schools. 

Oglethorpe University President Lawrence M. Schall, recently gave a pretty fair assessment of these sad state of affairs in an opinion article written in the AJC.

Both, the Georgia Bill SB133 and the conviction of Former Atlanta Public Schools Educators will likely not solve the problem of failing schools particularly in Atlanta, Georgia.

If failing Schools equal failing Children in learning, retaining and advancing in Life as a whole, what are we as a Community not doing as a whole?

When a similar question was posed to State of Georgia House of Representative Shelia Jones, she stated that the Community needs to get involve with the schools.  

I concur with State of Georgia House of Representative Shelia Jones and all the concern Citizens at that Meeting.  WE as a Community need to get involve with the schools in our Community.

So, what might be some of the ways we could help?

Perhaps as Responsible Citizens go to the school to offer assistance through various programs such as the following:

1) Offer Tutoring to Students via the Schools
2) Offer Tutoring to Students via Non-Profit Organizations, as well as, Churches, Synagogues and Mosque
3) Offer Leadership & Responsibility Workshops, Programs and Events ( Article, Video ) to Students.
4) Offer Mentor-ship to Students via the Schools, Communities & Neighborhoods
5) Help broaden the horizon of a Child by sponsoring Community or Neighborhood events that take the Kids to places never explored or realized nearby.

Perhaps I'm a dreamer, but here are some solutions mentioned above that could help further the advancements in education.  So, what are your thoughts, what do you think?

Can Instilling Responsibility In Our Youth Revive An Economy?

Recently, the historical neighborhood to which I had the honor and blessing to grow up in devise an Exploratory Clean Up and Bike Ride for the Youth living there.

This event was not a method worked out to humiliate, harass, disrespect or put down anyone.  In fact, it was design to perform the opposite.  It was to motivate, encourage, show great respect and admiration to the Youth, as well as, their Parents or Guardians in an effort to revive the Community.

If people care for others, as well as, themselves - perhaps they could live or co-exist peacefully.
So, let's take that thought further.  Living and prospering in a safe environment could possibly reduce stress in a person and promote healthy living.

What if giving back to your own environment in a positive manner, revive the economy in the area to which you live?

Its just a thought, but I would hope we all enjoy beautiful scenery.  Many healthy people have found a number of ways to relieve stress.  Exercise alone with proper dieting or in other words eating a balance meal could help.

But, that is not enough.   Positive Self-esteem of oneself and good mental health practices also play a role as well to say the least.  I can hear someone say,  " What on Earth could possibly give me positive self-esteem and good mental health? 

Well, what if just being happy or placing oneself in a state or enviroment to becoming "Happy", promotes positive self-esteem and good mental health practices?

I recall a few years back, a famous attorney was having a business discussion with me and stated,
" If it is in your power to perform a task, do it. "

In essence, let's say you are walking in the front yard of your home. Then, you come across some paper on the ground.  Well, observing the paper and making a conscious effort to pickup that paper, then dispose of it in the proper trash or recycle bin, perhaps, just made you change or maintain a healthy environment not just for yourself, but others as well.

I can imagine someone, somewhere saying to themselves, it is not that simple.

However, I beg to differ.   Why?  Well, here are the following things you likely change in your environment, neighborhood, community and perhaps your city to which you live.

Perhaps, One Positive Act Of Selflessness Can Do The Following:

1) Improve One's Health
2) Improve One's Self Esteem and outlook on Life
3) Improve the Environment by removing waste and possible toxicities.
4) Improve the 'Economic Outlook' by attracting Consumers, Businesses and Non-Profit Organizations to the area who possess similar mindsets as yourself.
5) Motivate others to follow suit living in this positive developing or re-developing area.
6) Lower the crime rate.
7) Reduce the blight or the sense thereof.
8) Display to visitor of your Neighborhood, Community or even City that People who dwell within it truly care.

Kevin Heights Neighborhood Exploratory Beltline Ride / CleanUp

Following the March 2015 Atlanta NPU-I Meeting at Adamsville Recreational Center located off MLK Jr. Drive, the focus of attention in the Kevin Heights Neighborhood was building responsibility within the Youth living there and perhaps the Community as a whole.  Being responsible for one's actions in Life could lead to creating a Good Value System in a person.  Possessing a Value System in Life, perhaps could suggest that you care for others, as well as, yourself.  Thus, Good Ethics plays a role in this proverbial picture.

Therefore, the idea to give kids bicycles (limited supply, on a first come, first serve basis) while training them to be responsible in the neighborhood could help to keep the area clean.  Studies have suggest that if a Community practice Good Policing, it could possibly lower or resolve issues that cause crime.

Recently, a Non-Profit Organization called, " Urban Creek Conservation and Recreation Corps
" received a donation of bicycles from a private donor.

The President of " Urban Creek Conservation and Recreation Corps " happens to be a recently Retired School Teacher and the President of the Kevin Heights Neighborhood Association.

Through his collaboration with Homeowners, Small Business Owners and City Leaders, the " Kevin Heights Neighborhood Exploratory Beltline Ride / CleanUp was established

The event will be held on Saturday, April 11th 2015 starting at 9:30 am and ending promptly at 5:30 pm.

An Agenda set forth for the event suggests the clean up of the Neighborhood Streets (parts of Linkwood Rd, Tribble Lane, Hermer Circle and Kevin Court), a trip to Historic 4th Ward of the City of Atlanta where the bike ride will start, then culminate into a 'Spring Break Picnic' in Piedmont Park.

Stop The Gun Violence In West (NW/SW) Atlanta - Multiple Shootings In Delmar Lane Area

Today, March 14th 2015, five (5) People were shot in the Delmar Lane Area.  Enough is enough, we want to live in a peaceful environment.  Hearing constant gun fire, having Children experience and grow up in this Community ( Collier Heights / Adamsville ) where there are people being shot is not the answer.  

We need to call a meeting with City Councilman CT Martin, the APD Chief, Zone 1 Major, NPU I Leader,   all Neighborhood Leaders, all Homeowners and Renters fed up with this violence.  We must stay together to stop this criminal activity or we will surely be divided when People of a Criminal Nature tear us apart.

Somebody Said, "What Are CFDA Numbers!?"

For clarifications purposes only, Broadcasting Interest Enterprise, Inc. (404) 348-8319 is a business development and telecommunications consulting firm.

Recently, we shared the EDA ( Economic Development Administration ) for the US Federal Government release of a Grant Opportunity.

Within this grant document located on Grants.gov, the acronym 'CFDA' became a question mark.

In essence, somebody said, " What are CFDA Numbers? "

Well, to answer that question, perhaps its wise to know what CFDA stands for in the US Federal Government.

CFDA is the 'Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance'.  CFDA in quote, "(CFDA) provides a full listing of all Federal programs available to State and local governments (including the District of Columbia); federally-recognized Indian tribal governments; Territories (and possessions) of the United States; domestic public, quasi- public, and private profit and nonprofit organizations and institutions; specialized groups; and individuals."

CORRECTION: Perhaps, a CFDA Number identify PROGRAMS in a US Federal Government Entity.

EDA Release 2015 Grant Opportunity To Non-Profit Organizations

On Tuesday Morning - Feb. 9th 2015, the EDA (Economic Development Administration) for the US Federal Government released a Grant Opportunity.

When learning of this release, we immediately read, research it, shared it in an email and post it on social media.

To my surprise, we received little response regarding it. 

Eligible Applicants For Grant:

State governments
City or township governments
Special district governments
County governments
Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
Unrestricted (i.e., open to any type of entity above), subject to any clarification in text field entitled "Additional Information on Eligibility"
Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
Private institutions of higher education


Well, I'm not a preacher and this is not a sermon.   However, it is understood that it is better to give then receive.   Look at it this way, let's say you share the Economic Development Administration's Grant Opportunity with a Non-Profit Organization that did or did NOT have a 501(c)(3) status.  By the way, both types of Non-Profit Organizations are eligible.

Anyway, what if that particular organization wins a grant from the EDA.   Well, let's safely assume they follow the guidelines that goes along with that Grant , then in the process contract your small business to perform some work based on the funding received.

Is not that a WIN - WIN situation?   I'm just saying, so what are your thoughts?

BIE Networks Suspends Broadcasting Events

Greetings Everyone,

I hope this email or blog finds you all well.  As of January 28th 2015, BIE Networks will suspend attempts to broadcast streaming media.  For now going on roughly two years, we have tried

to make a dream, a reality.

One summer in the late 1980s or early 1990s, I spoke with my late father, Marion L. Adams stating that I wanted to own  a radio station.  He did not discourage me because of the color of our skin or the financial status that we currently resided in at the time.

Instead, he encouraged me to dream the impossible dreams, focus on making them come true and with my late Mother's ( Mrs. Emma S. Adams ) wise advice - always put God 1st.

Since then, I have met many outstanding people and some great mentors to guide me alone the way in making this dream real.

Through everyone's inspiration, I have learned that every setback is perhaps a setup for something great, not seen, but soon to come.

That being said, " BIE Networks will resurface again, but at a later date."

I want to thank all the Broadcasters, Artists, Marketing & Sales Rep's from various Networks, Investors, Friends, Colleagues and Mentors for your continued support.

Dreaming About A Drone Invading My Privacy While I Sleep

You know, we live in a World where far be it for me to say, advance technology exist.

However, just because it may exist does not mean that it will ever be stealthier enough to elude the human species.

Why do I make that statement?

Well, because a human being with spirit attached is perhaps one of if not the most complex creature in my professional opinion ever studied thousands to millions of times, whereas, we still don't have all the answers to how they work or operate.

I believe that only God knows us truly.

Anyway, so I had this particular dream about a Drone hovering near my home with at least one infrared night vision camera looking into my window.

Then, I woke up - thought to myself, what legal rights as a U.S. Citizen, as a Small Business Owner and just as a Human being - do I have to address this matter appropriately?

I  mean really now, I would assume that Drones are great tools and/or toys when properly utilize.

However, if you have NO business or RIGHT to operate a Drone at NIGHT, plus in a residential area, why take the risk?

Then again, mind you - I'm just dreaming this stuff up, right?

Well, I sincerely hope for those advocates of the Drone with night vision, commercialized and have the intent to invade everyday/night citizens privacy by aerial trespassing, get this message clearly.

Perhaps, You are not welcome.   Maybe, You are not without observation in return and legal recourse will be taken against You.  

OK,  (LOL) enough said, let me go back to sleep now without hearing a weird hum or buzz.

Kevin Heights Neighborhood - Modern Day Tribe

Recently, I reviewed an interactive article in a local newspaper web site that was discouraging in my professional opinion.

However informative it tried to convey awareness of criminal activity in the City of Atlanta, it might have promoted a negative message to visitors from other walks of life  regarding the municipality.

It is true and I'm not in denial when I state this,  'there is crime everywhere'.

However, there are good things or perhaps greater things occurring everywhere as well.

For instance, where I grew up and currently reside, there is no Murders, Rapes, Aggravated Assaults or even Larceny occurring in my immediate neighborhood - modern day tribe - to the best of my knowledge to date.

Yet, the picture painted for the World to see on an Open Source GPS web site begs to differ.

How can I make this comment and sleep safely at night?  Well, it's a factual statement.

To make it a valid expression, here's what the people or fellow tribe members do...

1)  Become Nosy Neighbors, pay close attention to details.

2)  Communicate with their neighbors openly through greetings when outside of their homes.
(e.g.  Hey!  How are you doing!  Have a great day!)

3)  Communicate with Neighbors via  POTS (Plain Old Telephone System).  (e.g.  Hello,  how are you? Listen, I just wanted to give  you a call to share some observations.)

4)  Communicate via Facebook and other Social Media with neighbors or fellow tribe members.

5)  Communicate via Text Message System amongst Modern Day Tribe Members, City Council Person and Police.

6)  Pickup trash around their homes, other neighbor's homes and from time to time, the entrance to the subdivision while being watchful of the community as a whole.

7)  As adults, speak openly to children when they are observed misbehaving in the neighborhood while at play; certain steps are taken.  

STEPS: 
A.  If a child is observed misbehaving, call out to that child and ask him or her to refrain from bad behavior.  
B. If the child fails to comply, contact their parents or guardians immediately to stop their bad behavior. 
C. If the parent or guardian is absent or fails to correct the child's actions, call the police.

It is very obvious that most of the time, outside elements, people or even gangs will select a place to perform criminal activity.  As a result of these negative actions, a urban blight is place over an entire area.  This economy killer must stop and will stop when a person or people get fed up with crime.

Happier New Year Everyone!   Why did I state, "happier" instead of "happy" new year?   Well, it is my hopes and prayers that 2015 becomes a better year than 2014 for you.  Nevertheless, I had the opportunity to meet a Beautiful Lady, should I say Beautiful Business Lady who goes by the name of Tawana Lael.

Prior to reading about her online and hearing this R and B - Soul Artist sing, I did not know that someone had the GREAT MIND to marry her.  That someone goes by the name of " EMJ".   EMJ is also the Producer of Tawana Lael's  first and second album.

The Bibles says, when a man finds a woman, he finds a 'GREAT' thing.  EMJ has found a Great Artist in Tawana to say the very least and I would like to encourage you to come out and hear her sing at De'lux Lounge, Bar and Grill located at 5456 West Fayetteville Road on State Route 314 in College Park, Georgia on Friday, January 30th 2015 starting around 8:00 pm EST.

Wait-a-minute, I can hear somebody in the reading eye of this Blog say,  " Well, C. Henry, I'm sorry but, I can not fly down to the Atlanta Metro Area near Hartsfield- Jackson International Airport right now to hear Tawana sing".

My Reply:  Well, that's OK, BIE Networks is solving that problem in several of the following ways;

1)  BIE Networks will start streaming video / audio broadcast on its network in January of 2015.

2)  A Show called, " Debut Spot " will feature an Artist 'Live' from De'Lux Lounge, Bar and Grill at 5456 West Fayetteville Road, State Route 314 once a month for at least six months starting

My Opinion Regarding Ebola

This statement is just my opinion, perhaps I'm wrong or right. Ebola is a deadly virus that is said to kill in about 2 to 21 days. ( Please feel free to correct me, if I'm wrong. ) As an American, I have shown great concern regarding the consequences of someone entering the USA with Ebola. I pray for healing regarding the person or people who suffer with this disease. I extend my condolences to the many families who have lost love-ones as a result of a deadly virus such as Ebola. I also pray that everyone in the sight of my writings take heed to learn more about this and other diseases /or virus (es) to avoid contact with an infected insect ( No allege claims have been made as of yet.) , animal, person or people. Money can not always buy a cure to this disease and other diseases. However, putting God 1st through prayer and utilizing common sense in a Hazmat Situation is a key to me.

I FINISH 26693rd IN THE 2014 AJC PRR

This particular article is my testimony regarding the accomplishment or milestone I personally made on Friday, July 4th 2014 while running in the 2014 AJC Peachtree Road Race.

If you are an avid runner and you read the title,  " I FINISH 26693rd IN THE 2014 AJC PRR ", perhaps that's not a big deal to you.  But, to me coming off a 10 year hiatus from running in the AJC Peachtree Road Race that was a very big deal.  

A matter of a fact, when I finally made it to the finish line, I looked up and I saw a time of 2 hours : 45  minutes : something seconds (something, meaning I forgot the numbers.  LOL ). 

Then,  I thought to myself, the " Y " Wave ( The last group of Runners to run the 2014 AJC Peachtree Road which included Meb Keflezighi, the Boston Marathon Winner) started or allegedly was to start at 9:05 am EST, whereas, the first group of Runners started at 7: 30 am EST.

This means that I just ran this race in 45 minutes!  (WRONG)

But later, when I checked my time at AJC Peachtree Road Race Unofficial Results web page for 2014 ( http://projects.ajc.com/running/peachtree/2014/ ),  I guess that wasn't the case. 

Instead, I ran the race in 1 hour :  9 minutes : 41 seconds while placing at 26,693rd out of 60,000 runners.

Did I feel bad about that placed position?   Heck Naw!

Why?  Well, to start - 10 years ago, I suffered heat exhaustion or perhaps a heat stroke trying to run the 2004 AJC Peachtree Road Race.

The years following that episode in my life revealed other health related issues which eventually lead me to believe that I was on the right track trying to stay healthy as I got older by training and running.

Today, I work hard to keep a positive mental attitude while balancing my life with healthy exercise, dieting and practicing methods of relieving stress.

As a small business owner, it is essential to balance one's life and very important to surround yourself with LIKE MINDS who believe in practicing great health.

I personally want to thank  The Atlanta Track Club  ( http://www.atlantatrackclub.org/ ) for the opportunity to run in their event and the magazine that I received in the mail from them was very informative while giving great advice.

I will continue this NEW old hobby that I have been doing since my days in Elementary School over 30 years ago.  LOL  I see clearly now that it is important to maintain some sort of exercise regiment to maintain great health in one's life.

The AJC Peachtree Road Race is a great choice for improving your health when you train for it and discover through it that all your hard work paid off when you cross the 6.2 mile finish line regardless of finishing 1st or last.

UPDATE: Kevin Heights Neighborhood Residents File A Complaint Against ATT

As of May 22nd 2014, the Historic Kevin Heights Neighborhood Complaint against AT and T has been resolved.

A little known Historic Duplex which actually sat where Interstate 20 is now located, is the center of discussion. 

It was removed and placed in the Kevin Heights Neighborhood over 50 years ago.

It is the private property ,whereas, the incident has occurred.

A portion of the property is backed by the Georgia Department of Transportation barrier wall overgrown with vegetation, it is near the corner of Tribble Lane and Linkwood Road in Northwest Atlanta.

The Private Owner of the said historic property spoke with AT and T Technicians on site and was told that repairs would be made after the construction period end.  However, this construction period has continue off and on for months.

Atlanta City Councilman C. T. Martin's Office relayed a message to an AT and T contact as well.

An Executive Representative of AT and T receive notice from the Chairman Chuck Eaton's office of District 3 for the Georgia Public Service Commission and immediately contacted a representative of the Kevin Heights Neighborhood to resolve the matter amicably.

As it stands, there is a positive outlook to the end of this story.

Note:  This complaint was sent to the Georgia Public Service Commission, its Chairman Chuck Eaton of District 3 and various others seeking a positive outcome.

It has been observed on several occasions by Neighbors entering the Kevin Heights Neighborhood, to which is a part of the Collier Heights Community in Northwest Atlanta; that tire tracks smear and disfigured the grounds at the entrance.

Therefore, residents made efforts to place "Keep off the Grass" signs at the entrance in hopes of containing further damage to the property.

It appears their efforts were to no avail.

On Tuesday, May 20th 2014,  a resident of the Kevin Heights Neighborhood approach the entrance to the subdivision to discover what appear to be an AT and T Bucket Truck parked on the grass where the entrance sign to the neighborhood is located.

The resident approach the AT and T Technician and a male Georgia POST Off-Duty Policeman of another jurisdiction outside the City of Atlanta guarding the Technician.

He asked the AT and T Technician to remove his truck off the grassy area that display the Neighborhood sign.

The AT and T Technician refused to remove what appears to be a Bucket Truck and the Georgia POST Off-Duty Policeman told the resident that the Technician had a right to park the truck on the lawn and directed the resident to have a "Nice Day" and leave immediately.

Considering the fact that the vehicle or Bucket Truck would not impede traffic on the street, plus if this vehicle is in fact a Bucket Truck, it could extend to reach any utilities without destroying the lawn, the sewer covers seen damaged and entrance to a neighborhood; the AT and T Technician clearly damaged property while reducing the property value of the community.

Nevertheless, on Wednesday, May 21st 2014, the same or similar Bucket Truck with the same Male AT and T Technician was seen on the Bucket Truck parked on the lawn with no regard to the neighborhood.

In fact, approximately 4:00 pm EST it was observed by a resident that the AT and T Technician left wires exposed on the Utility Pole and Lines.

AT and T also has left trash and debris laying on the grounds in and around their construction site.

Furthermore, AT and T has failed to cover a hole that is clearly seen at the construction site.

Furthermore, the communication box where the AT and T Technician often work out of is clearly in disarray and appears open at times after technicians have left the site for the day.

Digital images have been taken and documented regarding this neighborhood with the site in question.  These atrocities have been in due form more than 12 months.

It appears that AT and T does not care about their current customers in Northwest Atlanta.

A Conversation With A Film Maker And US Ambassador

I have the honor to know a Film Maker/Producer  and a US Ambassador.

Each of the two people that I highly speak of are known for their unique and individual roles in life.   How unique?  So unique that they have made positive impressions on many people's lives of different colors, creeds and national origins like mine for years.

So, with great thought,  I pondered on how I could connect these two people to convince them to tell a story based on true accounts regarding 20,000 or Twenty Thousand Men who help change the course of the US Military (United States Marine Corps) ,as well as, Civilian Life throughout seven (7) decades by giving of themselves to defend the United States during World War II.

Perhaps you heard of theses great men who in June of 2012 receive the Congressional Gold Medal.  My father, the late Marion L. Adams, Sr. was a Montford Point US Marine and receive his certificate posthumously.

As a result of my late father's great works,  I've decided to take action regarding the Montford Point US Marines Story.  So far, it has not been an easy act.  Truth is based on facts.  Providing a historical account of several turn of events requires factual evidence.

In order to tell a great story of these historic events, perhaps it would be wise to gather pertinent information from a person or persons who served during WWII in the USMC (United States Marine Corps).

Well, one of those great men would happen to be a Living Legend of the ' Few and the Proud '; who went on to be appointed a United States Ambassador.

Ambassador (Dr) Theodore Britton, Jr. currently resides in the Atlanta area.   As a Business Man, I've learned that you can never have too many Mentors within your Profession.   Dr. Britton is one of my Professional Mentors to which I hold in high regards.  What makes him stand out the most is... he is highly intelligent, up to date on the latest technologies and a real to life Globe traveling Gentlemen that is spot on time.  LOL

Then, there is the Colleague and highly intelligent Professor, named Rel Dowdell.   Rel, is an Educator,  Film Maker / Producer, who has great business sense. 

The Film Industry is a Billion Dollar Enterprise.  Today, even though you have advanced technology at your finger tips to create incredible film footage, it still takes a lot of money, the right cast and crew;  plus a whole lot of other things behind the scenes  to produce a great movie.

As of May 15th 2014, Rel's Film called, " Changing the Game " will debut , (Thursday, May 15th 2014 ) on BET  at 7pm EST.   http://www.bet.com/shows/bet-star-cinema/photos/2014/05/flicks-of-the-week-may-12.html

Nevertheless, while driving to go and eat some chicken at this place (Chick-Fil-A) on South Cobb Drive in Metro Atlanta.  (( Sorry, no shameless ad here, just like the food and customer service.  LOL))

I got the notion to call up my ole Classmate ( Professor Rel Dowdell ) and two-way him with my Mentor ( Dr. Theodore Britton, Jr.).

Guess what?  It worked;  I was successful in reaching both Gentlemen.

Although the conversation was short and brief, I believe that I've made some sort of connection.

Furthermore,  it turns out the Montford Marines Memorial located in North Carolina near Camp Lejeune needs additional funding to complete it.

If some sort of collaboration was made to use the Copyright of the Montford Point US Marines while creating a film to benefit the Non-profit Organization's Memorial, as well as, others - that would be a beautiful thing.

After reviewing the Bereavement Announcements of the recently deceased Montford Point US Marines, it is realized that time is of an essence.

Many of the these Legends have passed away.  However, for those that are living, this is the time to reach out to the Men, their Wives and Grown Children in order to grasp a piece of the past, whereas, to know whence you come from to clearly know where you are going into the future.

Furthermore, it is also time to call on the Surviving Spouses and Children as well, while educating this Great Nation regarding the legacy and contributions left behind.

Favoring The 300M Plan For The TED

I would favor Georgia State University and Carter Developers proposed 300 Hundred Million Dollar Plans for Turner Field property , AKA the "TED".

Back on December 1st 2013, I wrote a blog asking how much for Turner Field with the mindset of preserving it.  However, this concept that I recently observed would definitely perform a greater purpose.

It would be sad to see the Atlanta Braves along with the Stadium in its current form go, but on the other hand - it would serve a higher calling for the Students matriculating through the Halls and Buildings of Georgia State University; as well as, it would likely support the surrounding Neighborhoods and Communities where Turner Field is located.

I briefly read the article in the Atlanta Business Chronicle and glance at the Atlanta Journal Constitution  article as well.   Here is a concept booklet found in PDF here.

GA Procurement Registry is UP

The Georgia Procurement Registry Database is Back Up and Running!  Whew!


The procurement registry helps small to medium sized business do business with Local to County , as well as, State Government.

It appears the Georgia Procurement Registry Database is down.  If a Contractor or even an Entity Purchasing Officer tried that solicits " Request for Proposals " (RFP) or " Request for Information " (RFI) to name a few, tried to access the system, they would NOT gain access.


The Georgia Procurement Registry is likely responsible for Millions of Dollars or perhaps Billions of Dollars awarded to Contractors annually related to Government Business.


A recent update to the status of the work performed on the Georgia Procurement Registry is stating NO ETA or estimated time of arrival for a repair.

NO PRIOR NOTICE BY CSX, A NO PRIOR LETTER

Dear:  CSX Railroad,

We greatly appreciate you for delivering commodities and  repairing the railroad crossings, however...

It appears to me that in the last (3) three days, there has been no prior notice to the Community that resides around the CSX Railroad line which separates Northwest Atlanta from Southwest Atlanta near Martin Luther King Jr. Dr.

In fact,  Thursday May 1st, 2014,  a call was made to the CSX Railroad Emergency Phone Line a second time in two days at 1-800-232-0144 to hopefully get some sort of answer.

When visiting the Georgia CSX Railroad web site to search for a  Railroad Repair Announcement in the area of Linkwood Road NW and  Westland Blvd NW; there was no information found.

I wonder did any of the neighbors hear of the closure on the Radio, the TV or see any advance notice SIGNS posted days, weeks or months ahead of schedule?   I certainly did not.   But, please correct me if I'm wrong.

BTW, if you were a pedestrian, riding a bicycle, a motorcycle or even a Fire Fighter responding to a call located on the side of the image seen in this blog, don't make the wrong  turn or you would likely have to go a mile to get across the railroad  to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Does anyone care about the folks that lives in West Atlanta  (NW & SW)?

Oh, by the way -   we did hear that CSX is reporting the railroad crossings at Linkwood Road NW and  Westland Blvd NW re-open on May 2, 2014.

Rel Dowdell is one of those Outstanding Americans of African Descendent that I have known over two decades.  I heard of his great accolades from Colleagues, but fail to review the film until recently.

First, let me state that while attending College in the Late 1980's and early 1990's, I can honestly say that it was a culture shock for me being from the South and I'm quite sure for those individuals from the North in the USA as well.

The ways of our thinking from all students of different facets of life ,  their actions and their concepts were slightly different.

I believe from viewing the Movie, "Changing the Game", Rel took experiences from College, as well as, his Culture in Philadelphia to write and Co- Produce the Film.

It is with no doubt in my mind that the intelligent aspect of the young boy reading the Charlotte's Web Book in his Elementary School at the beginning of the movie was likely from an episode in Rel's own life. 

Rel was outspoken and highly intelligent in College to say the least.

Furthermore, thinking like a Skilled Leader of Warriors when it comes to creating strategies to overcome obstacles, coupled by the 'Birds of a Feather' flock together observation , whereas, two young men fake their deaths - was in fact intriguing.

I have given you a taste of the beginning of the Movie and a piece of the ending of it.   I honestly rated the Movie via letter grades at the level of a B, whereas,  A is the highest and E is the lowest of the ratings given.

Rel and his Team obviously put a lot of work into everything regarding this film and it shows.

City of Atlanta Street Cleanup in Local Districts - Grade: D+

First, I want to thank the Workers out in the field for the City of Atlanta - Department of Public Works. Your work is appreciated.   However, regarding the management, planning and removal of Winter Debris (Salt & Gravel) that has plague the streets for nearly a month in the 9th, 10th, and 11th District ;  I have nothing good to say at all.
Furthermore,  it is interesting to the say the less, that streets like Tribble Lane, Linkwood Road, Collier Drive , Peyton Road, Willis Mill Road and Venetian Drive to name a few; still have gravel and salt present.

Word is out that Atlanta is only addressing a 'Request List' now.   So if you see a street sweeper cleaning one street of many filthy streets within the same surrounding area, the other passages are not on the list.

I can only imagine the number of people that could get upset like I did when I heard this method of doing business.
It appears that some Elected Officials of the City of Atlanta don't really care about their Constituents until they (Constituents) start raising hell.
One way to boost the economy in an area and perhaps help lower the crime in the same location is to keep the live-work place clean.
Why are we still waiting for the City of Atlanta to take immediate action?
The grade of a D+ was given because something is being done.  So, what do you think?

' Cause I'm Happy

Excerpts from a discussion on Facebook regarding Pharrell Williams' Song called,  ' Happy  '


In December of 2013 if I recall correctly, Pharrell Williams put out a song called, " Happy " on YouTube. Well, one of my Brothers from another Mother ( Scooda Red ) posted the song on his Facebook Page. By that time, it had 36 Million hits. Today, that song has 78 Million hits and many many Artist's attention. We need to turn the Vibe around to a more Positive Vibe. Pharrell is a trail blazer in this day and time.

BIE Media Group, sells Radio Ads on PRAISE 102.5/1029 FM in Atlanta - A Contemporary Gospel Radio Station. That station played this song on the AIR. This song has transcend across many genres. I don't care what NO BODY SAY, God is working with that Rump Shaker Producer ( Pharrell ). LOL
