On Wednesday Night, 8/20/25 at 7:00 pm in the multi-million dollar Historic Community of Buckhead - Atlanta, Georgia; I had the opportunity to hear Pastor & Rev. Dr. Jay Augustine (Pastor Jay) of Big Bethel AME Church of Atlanta, Georgia preach in a 156 year old Church called New Hope AME Church while singing in the choir loft.
Incidentally, this was the second night of a two night - revival event called, " Revival - Taking It To The Streets! "
Pastor Jay sermon was entitled, " Are You Looking To See Jesus? "
Points Taken from the Sermon:
* Are you looking to see Jesus?
* Revive your Spirit
* Revive your intentions in life while looking to see Jesus Christ
* Don't let obstacles stand in your way while focus on our Savoir Jesus Christ
* Recognize your limitations, but know with God all things are possible
* Be willing to put in some work to overcome obstacles in life with the help of God
* God is good all of the time and all of the time God is good
Pastor Rev. David F. Richard, III of Historic New Hope AME Church located at 3012 Arden Road in Atlanta, Georgia 30305 invited Pastor Jay & his mass choir to join them in their 156 year anniversary occasion.
Growing up in Atlanta, Georgia, I discovered that Wednesday Night ; I knew little about Buckhead. A matter of fact, the area of about 1.8 acres to where the church is located was part of the Howell Family Farm over 156 years ago. There is a grave yard that surrounds the church & it is said to have over 600 bodies buried there of slaves and former slaves. It appears the area was once a farming community.
Before 1869, Arden Road was known as Old Howell Mill Road to a certain point. When one research the 1864 Civil War, the area of the church was likely near a civil war battle.

Yet, today it is located up in the hills of an area where you will find multi-million dollar homes and estates.
My late Father, Marion Lewis Adams, Sr would say, " Sometimes, it is good to get lost to find yourself, if you understand where your directions are in life. East, West, North or South "
